Student Housing

Student Housing Unit is responsible for managing the accommodation and housing facilities of students in a comfortable, clean, and safe environment. This unit is responsible for coordinating the overall administration of student residential colleges.

There are four main sections under the Student Housing Unit:

  1. Maintenance and Development:

    • Responsible for the maintenance, repairs, and development of the student housing facilities.
    • Ensures that the residential buildings and amenities are well-maintained and provide a conducive living environment for students.
    • Coordinates renovation and improvement projects to enhance the quality of housing facilities.
  2. Student Facilities:

    • Manages and maintains the common facilities and amenities provided for students in the residential colleges.
    • Ensures that the facilities such as study rooms, recreational areas, laundry facilities, and common kitchens are well-equipped and in good condition.
    • Addresses any issues or repairs related to the student facilities promptly.
  3. Placement and College/Non-Resident (NR) Data:

    • Handles the placement of students into the appropriate residential colleges based on their preferences and availability.
    • Manages the data and records of students staying in the residential colleges as well as non-resident students.
    • Coordinates the allocation and assignment of rooms to ensure a fair and efficient placement process.
  4. Student Residential Colleges and External Accommodation:

    • Oversees the management and administration of the student residential colleges.
    • Monitors the rules and regulations within the residential colleges to ensure a harmonious living environment for students.
    • Provides support and guidance to students residing in external accommodations, such as off-campus apartments or rented houses.

The Student Housing Unit plays a vital role in ensuring that students have access to comfortable and well-maintained housing facilities. They work towards creating a conducive living environment that supports students' academic and personal development. Residential Colleges

Under the management of the Student Housing Unit, there are nine residential colleges, and one college is placed under the management of UNIMAS Holdings Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of UNIMAS.

The nine residential colleges managed by the Student Housing Unit provide accommodation and housing facilities for UNIMAS students. These colleges aim to create a conducive living environment that promotes academic excellence, personal growth, and community engagement. The specific names of the residential colleges may vary based on the university's structure and naming conventions.

The college placed under the management of UNIMAS Holdings Sdn. Bhd. may have a different organizational structure or management arrangement. UNIMAS Holdings Sdn. Bhd. is a subsidiary company of UNIMAS and may be involved in the management, maintenance, or development of the respective college under its purview. Kolej Alamanda

Kolej Alamanda was established and began accepting students in July 2005. The college provides accommodation for undergraduate students from Year 1 to Final Year.

There are 219 apartments that can accommodate a total of 1,752 students in Kolej Alamanda.

Kolej Bunga Raya

Kolej Bunga Raya was established and began accepting students in July 2006. The college provides accommodation for undergraduate students from Year 1 to Final Year.

Capacity and Blocks

Each apartment in Kolej Bunga Raya consists of 5 rooms, and the entire apartment complex can accommodate a total of 1,998 students.

Kolej Cempaka

Kolej Cempaka is the 8th residential college that was completed in November 2006. It officially started operating on 1st July 2007. It is built facing a lake and the iconic bridge of UNIMAS. It has become a preferred accommodation for students and visitors to UNIMAS.

There are 219 apartments in Kolej Cempaka, which can accommodate a total of 1,917 students.

Kolej Kasturi

Kolej Kasturi is the smallest college in UNIMAS in terms of student population and is known for its comfort and spaciousness. It is located at the UNIMAS City Campus, specifically catering to UNIMAS students in the medical and nursing fields. Its strategic location allows students to easily walk to the Sarawak General Hospital (HUS).

Kolej Kenanga

Kolej Kenanga, formerly known as Kolej Kenari, was established on May 19, 1999. It was later renamed Kolej Kenanga in 2002. This college accommodates students from uniformed units such as PALAPES Darat (Army), PALAPES Udara (Air Force), and SUKSIS (Campus Security Unit), specifically.

There are 4 main residential blocks that can accommodate up to 750 students.

Kolej Rafflesia

Kolej Rafflesia is located in Desa Ilmu, Kota Samarahan, and started accepting students in January 2013. It is the largest residential college in UNIMAS.

There are 608 apartments in total, which can accommodate up to 4,256 residents.

Kolej Sakura

Kolej Sakura is located in the West Campus of UNIMAS and is the only residential college exclusively for female students. It started operating and accommodating students on 20 December 2005.

There are 68 apartments in total, which can accommodate up to 680 female students.

Kolej Seroja

Kolej Seroja was occupied starting from the 2004/2005 intake session. It is a dormitory-style residential college that accommodates students from the Centre for Pre-University Studies (PPPU) of UNIMAS.

There are 5 two-storey residential blocks that can accommodate up to 1,224 students.

Kolej Tun Ahmad Zaidi

Kolej Tun Ahmad Zaidi was built with contributions from the Sarawak State Government and is the first college to be constructed on the permanent campus site (West Campus). It was officially opened on November 1, 1999.

There are 2 four-storey residential blocks that can accommodate up to 520 students.

Kolej Dahlia

Kolej Dahlia is the 10th residential college and was completed towards the end of 2013. The arrangement and positioning of the college blocks form a parallel "D" shape, which is the namesake of the college, "Dahlia". It features a mini-dorm concept within the apartments. It is the only college that is fully managed and maintained by UNIMAS' subsidiary, UNIMAS Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (UHSB). It began operations in September 2014, accommodating both local and international students.

There are 14 residential blocks that can accommodate up to 1,728 students.

Each residential college provides various facilities for the convenience of students and visitors. Some of these facilities include:

  1. Cafeteria: A dining area where students can have their meals and socialize.
  2. Surau: A prayer room for Muslim students to perform their religious obligations.
  3. Wifi Access: Internet connectivity available throughout the college premises.
  4. Study Rooms: Dedicated rooms for students to study and complete their academic work.
  5. Seminar/Meeting/Activity Rooms: Spaces provided for conducting seminars, meetings, and other activities.
  6. Parking: Designated parking areas for students and visitors.
  7. Principal & Fellow's Residence: Residential units for the college's principal and faculty members.
  8. Self-Service Laundry: Facilities where students can do their laundry.
  9. Sports Complex: Sports facilities for students to engage in physical activities.
  10. Minimart: A small convenience store within the college premises for students to purchase daily necessities.

These facilities are aimed at providing a conducive living and learning environment for the residents of each college.
