Culture & Arts Section

The Culture & Arts Section, operated through the Cultural Unit (Unit Kebudayaan & Kesenian, or UKK), nurtures the artistic talents and cultural identity of UNIMAS students. Through BAYU (Badan Budaya UNIMAS) — the university's official cultural body — students are given a platform to explore, practise, and perform the rich tapestry of Malaysian and international arts. The section also represents UNIMAS at national and international cultural competitions and events.

All UNIMAS students and staff are welcome to participate.

Official University Performances

BAYU is the official cultural troupe representing UNIMAS at all major university events including the annual convocation ceremony, Hari UNIMAS, national celebrations (Merdeka, Malaysia Day), and VIP visits. The section also coordinates cultural demonstrations for visiting delegations and university open days.

Community & Outreach

UKK organises cultural outreach programmes in the local Sarawak community, schools, and community halls to promote awareness and appreciation of Malaysian arts. Collaborates with local cultural bodies, the Sarawak Cultural Village, and international embassies for joint cultural exchange initiatives.
