🌟 BAYU — Badan Budaya UNIMAS
Established in 1995, BAYU is the umbrella cultural organisation at UNIMAS, primarily run by students under the close guidance of UKK officers. BAYU provides structured training, resources, and performance opportunities across multiple art forms. It is located at Level 2 of the Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman (DeTAR) Putra Hall, which serves as the principal venue for university cultural events.

Traditional Dance
Training and performance in Malaysian traditional dances including Joget, Zapin, Iban traditional dance, and other indigenous art forms representing Malaysia's multicultural heritage.
24 Seasons Drum
Training and performance in Malaysian traditional dances including Joget, Zapin, Iban traditional dance, and other indigenous art forms representing Malaysia's multicultural heritage.
Gamelan
Training and performance in Malaysian traditional dances including Joget, Zapin, Iban traditional dance, and other indigenous art forms representing Malaysia's multicultural heritage.
National & International Competitions
BAYU actively participates in MAKUM (Majlis Kebudayaan Universiti-Universiti Malaysia) — the national inter-university cultural festival — as well as international festivals and cultural exchange programmes. UNIMAS teams have won multiple awards across various art categories.
Training & Skill Development
SKK provides structured training programmes led by experienced instructors and industry professionals. Workshops cover both technical skills (instrument playing, choreography) and soft skills (stage presence, team coordination, event management). All UNIMAS students and staff are welcome to participate.
Official University Performances
BAYU is the official cultural troupe representing UNIMAS at all major university events including the annual convocation ceremony, Hari UNIMAS, national celebrations (Merdeka, Malaysia Day), and VIP visits. The section also coordinates cultural demonstrations for visiting delegations and university open days.
Community & Outreach
UKK organises cultural outreach programmes in the local Sarawak community, schools, and community halls to promote awareness and appreciation of Malaysian arts. Collaborates with local cultural bodies, the Sarawak Cultural Village, and international embassies for joint cultural exchange initiatives.
