Student Welfare Section
The Student Welfare Section is dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of all UNIMAS students. It serves as a safety net — ensuring that no student faces hardship alone, whether due to financial difficulties, medical emergencies, accidents, or unexpected crises. The section works closely with university management, government agencies, and NGOs to provide timely and meaningful assistance.
Financial Assistance
Manages the Student Welfare Fund and UNIMAS Endowment Fund to provide emergency financial aid. Assistance covers outstanding tuition fees, accommodation costs, and day-to-day living expenses for students in need. Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis with a focus on urgency and genuine hardship.
Insurance & Accident Claims
Administers the Group Personal Accident (GPA) insurance policy for all registered UNIMAS students. Assists students and their families in filing and processing insurance claims following accidents, injuries, or fatalities. Provides guidance on documentation and liaises with the insurance provider on behalf of students.
Crisis & Emergency Support
Coordinates immediate relief and support during major crises, including natural disasters (floods, fires), public health emergencies, and personal tragedies. Works with the university emergency response team, the Red Crescent Society, and government welfare agencies to mobilise aid quickly for affected students.
Scholarship & Bursary Coordination
Acts as a liaison between students and scholarship providers, government bodies (JPA, PTPTN, state foundations), and private sponsors. Assists students in identifying suitable funding opportunities, completing applications, and fulfilling post-award compliance requirements such as academic performance reporting.
Community Welfare Programmes
Monitors and supports students living off-campus (Non-Resident / NR). Ensures they are registered in the university system, aware of their rights and responsibilities, and have access to the same welfare services available to on-campus residents. Conducts periodic check-ins and outreach activities.
Community Welfare Programmes
Organised welfare programmes and initiatives such as food basket distribution, clothing drives, health screenings, and semester-end assistance packages for underprivileged students. Partners with university clubs, alumni associations, and the local community to amplify the reach of welfare efforts.
